Signatures turned in for Pueblo City Council recall

A group trying to recall two Pueblo City Council members accused of breaking the state’s Sunshine Law turned in petitions Wednesday.

Recall organizers submitted 2,234 signatures to recall councilwoman Ami Nawarocki. They needed 1,586.

Organizers also submitted 1,888 signatures to recall council president Sandy Daff. They needed 1,251.

But Daff announced this month that she would resign on October 31st. The city clerk will not count those signatures since she submitted her resignation letter earlier this week.

The city clerk has 10 days to validate signatures.

Nawrocki and Daff are accused of breaking Colorado Sunshine laws by discussing public policy issues through email.

Former council member Chris Kaufman faced similar accusations and resigned. Council replaced Kaufman with Dennis Flores earlier this month.
