Pueblo city council president resigns

The Pueblo City Council president announced Tuesday that she will resign at the end of October.

President Sandy Daff announced at Tuesday night’s meeting she will step down effective Oct. 31.

Daff said it is hard going through a recall effort and she felt it was the right time to resign.

“This group of trash haulers and maybe disenfranchised folks who maybe have some axes to grind just seemed like a collision course. It was in my best interest to step down and make way for a new person on council,” she said.

Daff and Council Member Ami Nawrocki are accused of breaking Colorado Sunshine laws by discussing public policy issues through email.

Former council member Chris Kaufman faced similar accusations and resigned. Council replaced Kaufman with Dennis Flores earlier this month.
