City-county health department on the lookout for Ebola.

The Pueblo City-County Health Department is preparing for a case of Ebola.

The Ebola outbreak has been centered in west Africa though there have been concerns about international air travel and other factors.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Ebola causes viral hemorrhagic fever, which can affect multiple organ systems in the body and are often accompanied by bleeding.

The health department wants to educate people on the symptoms and it is taking advantage of it by making fliers and using social media to inform people of the disease.

If a person does have the symptoms, Dr. Chris Nevin-Woods of the Pueblo City-County Health Department said remember where you traveled.

“We know there are many different diseases that can result from travel that are different from the diseases we see here every day in the United States,” she said.

The health department said even though it’s preparing for a case, there isn’t a significant risk of Ebola in the U.S.
