Advisories issued for cold weather overnight

Freeze warnings and frost advisories have been issued for parts of southern Colorado for overnight Thursday into Friday morning.

A freeze warning has been issued for the San Luis Valley, including Alamosa, from 2 a.m. until 9 a.m. Friday. A freeze warning is issued when sub-freezing temperatures are expected. These conditions are likely to kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Temperatures in the upper 20s are expected in this area.

A frost advisory has been issued for much of northeastern Colorado, including the Palmer Divide in northern El Paso County, from 2 a.m. until 9 a.m. Friday. A frost advisory is issued when the temperature is expected to get cold enough for frost to form. These conditions can damage or kill sensitive plants. Sprinklers may also freeze. Lows in this area are expected to drop into the upper 20s to mid 30s.
