Cold case remains unsolved after four years; Family wants answers

A family in Colorado Springs hopes their loved one’s four-year-old murder case will soon be solved.

Stephan Wilson was found dead on Oct. 1, 2010 inside his condo on Delmonico Drive in Colorado Springs. Police said he was shot in the head. His killer hasn’t been caught.

“We never thought that we would still be having a case unsolved, but we’re still there,” his mother Leslie Smith said. “It’s been murder, it’s been hard.”

Smith and her daughter Michelle Wilson looked through pictures and remembered good times with Stephan Wilson.

“He gave the best hugs, and that’s what I miss most, his hugs and words of comfort, and strength,” Michelle Wilson said.

The family hopes talking about the case will trigger others’ memories, so it can be solved.

Stephan Wilson’s photo and information is on the Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s cold case website. An updated version of the site was released last week. It shows more victims’ photos, more details about the cases and tells users when a case has been solved.

“Any updates to that website will help our case and hopefully any other cases that are cold cases right now, to warm them up to give these families, including our family some closure,” Michelle Wilson said.
