Police: Boulder detective warned luring suspect
Authorities say a Boulder detective has been arrested after warning a child luring suspect that he was under investigation.
Jefferson County prosecutors on Friday announced the arrest of 56-year-old Jack Gardner on charges of accessory to internet luring, official misconduct and obstructing government operations. Authorities also arrested 26-year-old Kahlil Hill Peckham on 20 charges including sexual exploitation of a child.
Boulder police began investigating Peckham in May after an officer posing as a 13-year-old girl responded to an online ad he allegedly posted. Police say he sent the officer hundreds of sexually explicit messages before arranging a meeting for sex.
Prosecutors say Gardner sent Peckham an email warning him not to meet the girl. Court records don’t list attorneys for either man.
Gardner has been suspended without pay.
