Durango gets 1st recreational marijuana shop

Recreational marijuana sales are beginning in Durango.

Durango Organics and Wellness Center, an existing dispensary, is set to start selling recreational marijuana Friday morning, nearly nine months after sales began in Denver and other Colorado cities.

The Durango Herald reports that stores hoping to sell marijuana in Durango face a lengthy regulatory process.

Another shop has been licensed but isn’t expected to open in October following construction at its building.
