Monument Police announce arrests in separate cases

The Monument Police Department says two men were arrested as part of two different investigations Tuesday.

Matthew Dahl was arrested at his home in the 300 block of Buttonwood Court. Police say they found small amounts of cocaine, LSD, ecstasy, marijuana and items commonly associated with drug distribution in his house. Dahl is being held at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on $50,000 bond. He is facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.

Separately, John Browning was arrested during a traffic stop. Police said they searched his home in the 700 block of Highway 105 in Palmer Lake. They said they found methamphetamine, a substance suspected to be ketamine, items commonly associated with drug distribution, a 9 mm handgun and a sawed off rifle. He is being held at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on $50,000 bond. He also has an active ATF hold. Browning is under investigation for drug possession with intent to distribute and possession of firearms by a previous offender.

Monument Police said the Palmer Lake Police Department, the ATF, the Fountain Police Department, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and the Tri-Lakes Monument Fire Protection District Tactical Medics participated in the warrant services at both homes.
