UPDATE: Fort Carson lockdown lifted after report of gunfire

(TUESDAY)

Fort Carson reported no new details Tuesday in the investigation of gunfire that forced a lockdown Monday night.

The routine at the Mountain Post returned to normal on Tuesday.

Many people who live or work at Fort Carson said they weren’t concerned about the situation.

Susan Boehm recently worked there.

“Being a prior military spouse for 20 some years and stuff, I know the routine,” she said. “I know how to respond, how to react and I know exactly what to do. You can’t freak out every time you hear gunfire in a military installation.”

Several people said they hadn’t heard about the incident.

The presence of a SWAT vehicle from the Longmont Police Department created a belief that the situation was worse than expected. However, Longmont police said its SWAT officers were there only to participate in a week-long training exercise, and were not part of the Army’s response.
