Crowds wait in line for new iPhones
The wait is over for Apple fans.
Two new iPhone models hit store shelves Friday morning. Hundreds of fans waited a long time to get their hands on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in Colorado Springs.
“I’m going to get the 6 Plus,” said Jason Caldwell. He camped outside of the Briargate Apple Store for three days to buy one. “I really want the phone. It looks better, it has a better battery, and a better camera.”
Some people in line have never experienced a product launch like this before.
“This is the first year I came out here and just camped out with some of my friends,” said Devan Collazo. “I don’t regret anything.”
Both new iPhones are larger than any other phone Apple has released. The iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch display, while the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5-inch display.
“I’m leaning toward the 6, but I want to see how the 6 Plus feels in the hand,” Gene Sanchez said.
The larger screens caught the attention of many Apple fans, but others were drawn to what’s inside the new devices.
“They have more antenna technology in there, so I’m hoping for better reception, and faster data speeds,” Todd Poirson said.
The waiting line stretched past several other businesses. People in line said they didn’t mind being part of a spectacle that is often mocked by smartphone competitors.
“I don’t think Samsung has ever had a line like this,” Eddie Iokyle said. “What it comes down to is loyalty.”
