Foster mom accused of child neglect to be released from jail

A foster mom in Pueblo accused of child abuse that resulted in a 2-year-old’s death will be released from jail.

District Judge Larry Schwartz ordered Sarah Finn, 23, to be released from the Pueblo County Jail on her own recognizance while she waits for her trial to begin. She has been in jail since Aug. 22 in lieu of a $200,000 bond.

Finn is charged with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. Finn’s lawyer told Schwartz that she is pregnant, adding that her family would not be allowed in the hospital during her delivery if she is still in jail.

Finn was emotional and shaking in the courtroom, as she waited to learn whether her bond would be reduced. She stepped out of the courtroom for a few minutes because she was feeling ill.

Schwartz said as part of Finn’s $200,000 recognizance bond, she cannot be in the sole custody or control of anyone under 18 and must be monitored electronically. She is required to live in her home on the 300 block of East Orman and cannot maintain contact with her husband, Paul Finn, 36, who is a co-defendant in the case.

Sarah Finn will be back in court on Oct. 3 at 1:15 p.m.
