Bicyclist hit, killed by pickup truck in Aurora

Authorities say a 57-year-old bicyclist was killed when a pickup truck ran a red light and hit her at an intersection in Aurora.

The Sentinel reports Denise Pimple was cycling with her husband when she was struck at about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday. She was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Aurora police Lt. Jeff Turner says the driver will likely face charges for running the light and possibly more serious charges depending on the outcome of toxicology tests, which could take a month to complete.

Police say Pimple and her husband did not see the truck coming because a large vehicle was parked in one of the westbound lanes, and the sun glare at that time of day can be harsh.
