Colorado Springs couple turns home into Broncos fan cave
For Gary and Susan Peterson, Sundays in the fall completely revolve around the Broncos.
Inside the couple’s Colorado Springs home, check that, fan cave, most of the rooms are full of Broncos gear.
“Looking around the room, it is pretty obsessive,” the man of the fan cave said. “I think my wife and I need therapy.”
“My wife is as big a die-hard as I am,” Gary said. “It’s not like she’s losing a husband during football season. She’s more adamant than I am.”
“I told Gary I hope he cleaned up Champ and gave him a bath,” Susan said staring at a life-size poster of Champ Bailey in the couple’s den.
A decade ago this couple’s first date was the only appropriate destination: Broncos training camp.
“At Invesco Field at Mile High,” Susan recalls. “It was really hot that day. It was really hot. We had a great time though.”
On their wedding night, two pieces of franchise memorabilia made way to the Peterson’s reception.
“A friend of ours brought in old seats from when they tore down Mile High,” Susan said on the couch next to her husband. “it was cool but Gary was a little disappointed.”
“I thought they were a wedding gift,” Gary said.
Last week Gary delved into putting a Broncos puzzle together.
These two admit their love for their blue and orange goes clear into obsession.
“It’s a healthy one,” Gary said laughing. “It’s healthy.”
