Report: Welker suspended four games for amphetamine use

ESPN is reporting that Broncos Wide Receiver Wes Walker has been suspended.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that Welker has been suspended for using amphetamines. Schefter cited unidentified sources. The report says that Welker was excused from practice two days last month to attend an appeal hearing. He was notified today that he lost that appeal.

The Denver Post reported that Welker tested positive for Adderall, which is commonly used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

The news comes just one day after Welker returned to the field after taking time to recover from a concussion that he suffered when the Broncos played the Houston Texans on August 23.

The concussion that Welker suffered in August was his third since November, and he still hadn’t been cleared to play in Sunday night’s game.

The Broncos have a bye on week four, which means Welker won’t return to the field until the October 12 game against the New York Jets.
