Friends of crash victims share memories, talk about night of tragedy

Friends of the teens involved in a deadly accident Monday said they can’t believe their friends are gone.

The crash happened at around 1:15 a.m. Monday near Hodgen Road and Roller Coaster Road. Two passangers, Beau Begier, 17, and Ryan Pappas, 18, died. A third passenger, Mitchell Clark, 17, is in the hospital. The driver of the crash was arrested.

Sienna Abeyta and Tia Hemphill knew all four teens and had been at a party with them earlier Sunday night. They said after the party, they all went to another friend’s house, but the four boys didn’t stay long. The girls said later that night, Begier sent a Snapchat showing what seems like them driving on Roller Coaster Road.

At 1:11 a.m. Hemphill sent Begier a text message asking what he was doing, but she never received a reply. State troopers said the crash happened at 1:15 a.m.

“No one expected that to happen,” Abeyta said.

The girls are still in disbelief that they lost one of their close friends, Begier.

“He was just different, there’s no one like Beau,” they said. “He was such a goof. He was just goofy all the time.”

The girls said they’ll treasure their memories with Begier, and they’ll support the driver in the crash.

“We definitely want him to know that we love him. He needs a lot of support. And that we don’t blame him at all. They all made bad choices that night,” they said. “We just want him to know that we’re here for him and we and that we love him no matter what.”
