Colorado’s Attorney General to run for mayor of Colorado Springs

Colorado Attorney General John Suthers said Tuesday (9/2/14) that he plans to run for the office of Mayor of Colorado Springs.

Suthers grew up in Colorado Springs and his career started in the city.

Suthers is the second person to announce plans to run for mayor in recent days. El Paso County Commissioner Amy Lathen announced her candidacy for the office on Monday.

The current mayor of Colorado Springs is Steve Bach. When asked whether he plans to run for a second term, Bach gave KRDO NewsChannel 13 the following response: “Right now I am focused on the 2015 budget preparation and will get to that decision in due time.”
