Soldiers plan for the future after finishing work in Kuwait

More than 100 Fort Carson soldiers are back with their loved ones today (08/24/14).

They’re part of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

The soldiers were sent to Kuwait to help in Operation Enduring Freedom. This was the final group to come home from that deployment.

The soldiers walked into the Fort Carson gym for the last time as part of the brigade.

“The fact that we got out of the plane and we were not sweating because it felt like it was 120 degrees in Kuwait, but it’s great to be home with friends and families, it’s more than I can ask for,” Lt. Jessica Felton said.

Because the soldiers completed their work in Kuwait, they will now be sent to do different missions.

One soldier said he and his wife will transfer to a base in Georgia.

“Whatever Uncle Sam tells me to do, I will do it,” Felton said.

Because the brigade will be disbanding, the soldiers will either move to another base, be assigned to a different unit, or transition out of the Army.

During their deployment in Kuwait, the soldiers conducted security cooperation, joint exercises and training.
