Trial date set for man accused of killing soldier, pregnant wife

A trial date has been set for a man accused of killing a Fort Carson soldier and his pregnant wife.

Jury selection in Macyo January’s trial will begin on September 15th.

January pleaded not guilty to double homicide and burglary charges in court on November 21.

He’s being tried as an adult in the deaths of SSgt. David Dunlap and his pregnant wife, Whitney.

January was 17 at the time of their deaths on January 14, 2013.

Prosecutors say January shot and killed the Dunlaps when they walked in on him while he was burglarizing their house on Bassett Drive.

If convicted, January faces up to 40 years in prison.
