Lankford pleads guilty in Black Forest double murder

Kenneth Lankford will spend the rest of his life in prison after taking a plea deal Thursday (8/21/14).

By taking the deal, Lankford admitted to killing his wife, Terry Lankford, and a woman named Carol Fowler. Lankford also shot Fowler’s husband, Tom, in the head. He survived.

In court Thursday, Lankford said he shot Carol Fowler three times. “I killed her. I shot her in the back of the head because she kept trying to get up. Something snapped inside me”, Lankford said.

When discussing killing his wife, Lankford said that the first time he shot her was an accident. He said that he shot her the second time to stop her suffering. “Upon my wife’s death, something broke inside of me. I went for a drive, then I went for a walk, and then I started killing people,” Lankford said.

Lankford was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 104 years.
