CSPD warns of reported phone scam

Colorado Springs police are investigating two incidents of a reported phone scam.

Police say a man posed as Lieutenant Carl Felton and Carl Shelton with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. He told the victims that they missed a Jury Duty subpoena, and that the victims need to wire over $900 to clear up the matter, otherwise, the victims would be arrested.

Police say EPCSO has no such procedure, and that the phone calls were clearly a scam.
