Survey shows marijuana use high among Colorado teens

Preliminary results from a 2013 Healthy Kids Colorado survey shows that more than one-third of Colorado high school students said they’ve used marijuana.

The study also shows that fewer high school students view marijuana as risky compared to previous years.

According to a press release, the percentage of students who perceived a moderate or great risk from marijuana use declined from 58 percent in 2011 to 54 percent in 2013.

One in five students used marijuana in the past 30 days. The study also showed that tobacco use among high school students is on the decline.

Meanwhile, a national drug use survey outlined in a Washington Post article found that Rhode Island was the top state for regular marijuana usage. Colorado, where recreational marijuana is now legal, was ranked No. 7.
