Two vehicle collision causes fuel spill, 2 injured

Two people were sent to the hospital after a collision between a semi-truck and a Jeep late Tuesday night.

Colorado Springs police report that a Jeep travelling north along Pennsylvania Ave. was hit by a semi-truck travelling west along E. Fillmore Street shortly after 10 pm.

The fuel tank on the semi was ruptured during the accident, spilling gasoline onto the road. A hazardous material team from the Colorado Springs Fire Department were called to the scene to clean the roadway. They do not believe the spill is dangerous to nearby residents.

Springs police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Traffic along E. Fillmore will be closed until further notice.
