Suspect, boy dead after standoff in Keenesburg

A suspected kidnapper and a boy are dead after a standoff with deputies in Weld County.

Sheriff John B. Cooke says the standoff started Monday night after SWAT officers went to a house to serve a warrant for the suspect. He barricaded himself inside the home with a boy. The boy told negotiators that he was there voluntarily and refused to leave.

At around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, deputies stopped hearing from the two. A camera was deployed inside and found two bodies on the floor.

Neither been identified yet.

Neighbors told The Denver Post that a husband and wife lived in the home with two girls and a teenage boy. They say deputies were also there Sunday night trying to get someone to surrender.
