Free Admission to State Parks
Parks and Wildlife officials are celebrating the 138th anniversary of the Centennial State by offering free admission to state parks on Monday.
Colorado joined the union as the 38th state on Aug. 1, 1876, and the first state park was established about 80 years later. Park entrance fees will be waived Monday, but activities like fishing and camping will still require a license and permit.
Parks and Wildlife officials say most Coloradoans live fewer than 30 minutes from a state park. Colorado boasts 42 state parks and 300 state wildlife areas.
