Police: Hit and run driver ditches vehicle, carjacks woman

Colorado Springs Police say a man fled the scene of an accident, ditched his vehicle, and carjacked a woman.

The original accident happened at the intersection of Boulder St. and Cascade Ave. at around 10:20 a.m. on July 31, 2014.

Police say the driver who left the scene of the accident drove to the intersection of N. Cascade Ave. and Cache La Poudre St. where he got out of his car. They say he tried unsuccessfully to carjack two people. His third carjacking attempt was successful.

Police say the man stole a silver Chevrolet Impala with Utah license plate number Y161-ZK.

The carjacking victim was a 47-year-old woman. She was not hurt.
