Man held after wild car-theft spree near Denver

Authorities say an armed man hijacked one vehicle, stole two others and tried to commandeer more before a deputy wrestled him to the pavement on a highway west of Denver.

No injuries were reported in the chase Wednesday afternoon.

The man was identified as Christopher David Sullivan on Thursday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department says the pursuit began when a car with Sullivan and a juvenile female inside fled during a traffic stop.

Authorities say one or both of the pair were then allegedly involved in hijacking a car with two people inside, stealing a pickup, crashing an SUV through a garage door and trying to steal two trucks.

Helicopter video also shows a man apparently trying to flag down other cars.

The female separated from Sullivan and was taken into custody first.
