AFA training flight lands off course

A small plane that was supposed to land at the Air Force Academy airfield Wednesday morning ended up in a field alongside I-25 near Interquest Pkwy. instead.

An Academy spokesman says the plane landed about a half mile off course.

There were two people on board, an instructor pilot and a cadet pilot. Neither person was hurt.

The Academy was unable to confirm who was at the controls when the plane landed.

An investigation will be conducted to determine why the T53A single engine plane landed where it did, and what can be done to keep it from happening in the future.
