SD authorities to resume search for Colorado woman

Authorities in western South Dakota say they will resume search efforts for a 24-year-old Colorado woman that was caught in flood waters while driving last month in northern Butte County.

The Rapid City Journal reports that Kristen Lakin has been missing since June 17. Lakin, of Grand Junction, Colorado, was traveling south on Highway 85 from North Dakota with her friend Roxanne Bleibaum.

Authorities say the 57-year-old Bleibaum was found suffering from exposure and exhaustion after apparently walking for several miles.

Authorities had suspended the search for Lakin late last month.

Butte County Sheriff Fred Lamphere says another major search effort is planned later this month in the Battle Creek area. He says the area has now dried out.
