No injuries in southeast Springs apartment fire

Firefighters quickly knocked down a fire on the second floor of an apartment complex near E. Pikes Peak Ave. and N. Academy Blvd. Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported just after 10 a.m. It happened at the Esperanza Village Apartments in the 100 block of Coleridge Avenue.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department says it took firefighters 21 minutes to control the flames.

Two adults and four children were displaced by the fire.

Firefighters say the apartment did have working smoke detectors, which alerted the family to the danger.

The cause is unknown.
