Obama to dine with woman helped by pay raise

President Barack Obama has arrived in Colorado for a trip where he is calling attention to a Colorado woman who got a raise after he called for an increase in the minimum wage.

The president landed at Denver International Airport just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. He will have dinner in Denver with a woman the White House is identifying only as Alex.

White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer says Alex’s boss voluntarily raised her pay the day after Obama’s January State of the Union address. That’s when Obama urged Congress to raise the federal minimum to $10.10 an hour. Pfeiffer says Alex wrote Obama to thank him.

Obama is also delivering a speech Wednesday in Denver about the economy and raising money for Sen. Mark Udall’s re-election campaign.
