3 hurt in boat explosion on Cherry Creek

Fire officials are investigating after three people were burned in an explosion on a motorboat at a state park southeast of Denver.

Steve Standridge with the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority tells KMGH-TV the explosion at Cherry Creek Marina was reported at about 11 a.m. Sunday. The victims, whose names and ages have not been released, suffered first- and/or second-degree burns.

Standridge says it appears fuel on the boat caused the blast, but the investigation is still in its initial stages.

The marina is in Cherry Creek State Park.
