Welcome Home, Soldiers

For the second time in less than 24 hours soldiers are welcomed home at the Mountain Post.

The 250 soldiers were with the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. During their deployment the troops helped strengthen ties with Kuwait and helped fortify security there as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

While some of the men were overseas their wives were busy giving birth. With much anticipation, these new fathers were able to hold their baby daughters for the first time Friday (06/27/14).

“Hopefully to see her walk and just to have more family time. It’s going to be amazing,” said new father, Pfc. Travis Houston.

“Honestly there’s not words for it, it means the world. He is holding her and it’s something we’ve wanted for a long time, we’ve always wanted a family and we’re finally there,” said Carolyn Schwarz, wife of Sgt. Joe Schwarz.
