A memorial service honors two fallen Mountain Post soldiers

The Mountain Post remembered two fallen soldiers Thursday afternoon (6/27/14). They were honored for giving the ultimate sacrifice.

Twenty-two year-old Cpl. Justin Clouse and 19-year-old Pfc. Aaron Toppen were part of the Dagger Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment. The men were two of five American soldiers killed in Afghanistan on June 9. Military officials said the men may have been killed by friendly fire. No matter the cause Thursday they were honored for their sacrifice.

“This is what the guys loved to do. They loved to be out there and soldier. Ultimately they died for every one of us and our freedoms,” said Sgt. 1st Class Jason Hughes.

The other troop members are expected to arrive home from Afghanistan early this fall.
