Kayaker found dead in Arkansas River
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says the body of a kayaker was pulled out of the Arkansas River Monday (6/23/14).
The man’s name has not been released, but the sheriff’s office says he was 63-years-old and lived in Saguache County.
Investigators believe the man launched his kayak into the river from the Salida area.
Someone reported seeing his body near the Wellsville Bridge area of western Fremont County at 11:23 a.m.
The sheriff’s office says the man was wearing a helmet, personal flotation device and a wet suit.
His exact cause of death has not yet been determined.
