Police searching for suspected driver in crash that killed Pueblo teen

Pueblo police are searching for the man who they say was behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a power pole Friday morning (6/13/14), killing a 16-year-old girl.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. near the corner of Pueblo Blvd. and Northern Ave.

Police say a maroon Cadillac, driven by Frankie Perea, 26, crashed into a power pole on the southwest corner of the intersection.

Bernadette Trujillo, 16, died in the accident. Her body was found in the car.

Witnesses told police they saw three other people run away from the car.

Officers are now looking for the people who were seen running from the crash. They believe Perea is one of those people.

A $500,000 cash only bond warrant for Perea has been issued. He is facing charges for vehicular homicide, failure to remain at a scene involving death and driving under suspension.
