Debate over wall is dividing neighbors in Colorado Springs

A wall in a southwest Colorado Springs neighborhood is dividing residents.

The debate is between the owner of the home up a hill on 26th Avenue and residents living at the foot of the hill.

“I’ve been fighting this for a very long time,” resident Judy Lenberg said.

Lenberg and other residents said they have had mud flowing down the hill into their property. Now they’re worried about a retaining wall the neighbor is building. They don’t think it’s stable.

“Look at those cement blocks, if we had a flash flood like last year, that stuff will wash right down here in my backyard,” Lenberg said.

Steve Hennings said he is building the wall to prevent mud from flowing down the hill. He has a permit granted by the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department.
