New fire chief appointed in Pueblo

Interim Pueblo Fire Chief Dale Villers has been promoted to chief.

City Manager Sam Azad appointed Villers on Monday. Villers was named interim fire chief in September 2013 when then-chief Chris Riley took on the role of fire chief for the Colorado Springs Fire Department.

Villers has been with the Pueblo Fire Department since 1977. He quickly moved up the ranks, promoted to fire engineer in 1986, fire captain in 1992 and deputy fire chief in 2007.
