Man arrested after two county chase

A wanted man is under arrested after a chase that spanned Fremont and Pueblo Counties.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy spotted the suspect, 25-year-old Justin Rien, leaving a home in Penrose driving a maroon pickup.

Deputies say Rien was a Fremont “Most Wanted” fugitive. He was wanted on a felony assault/parole violation by Colorado Department of Corrections, and had a traffic warrant out from Colorado State Patrol.

When the deputy tried to stop the truck, Rien sped to Florence, then went off-road.

Deputies say Rien drove through cattle fences and crashed through ranch gates while trying to get away.

He surrendered to waiting Pueblo County deputies when he pulled onto Hwy 96 between Wetmore and the Pueblo Reservoir.

Rien will be charged with eluding, trespass and criminal mischief. He is being held in the Fremont County Detention Center on a no bond hold.

Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, Custer County Sheriff’s Office, Florence Police Department and Colorado State Parks all helped in the chase.
