Car crashes into fire hydrant; causes street flooding, sinkhole

A car crashed into a fire hydrant in Colorado Springs early Saturday morning (5/24/14), causing a sinkhole and street flooding.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. in the 3600 block of Montebello Dr.

Police cited 23-year-old Patrick Moore in the crash for Careless Driving.

Police say one home is possibly flooded, but that the home appears to be unoccupied.

Colorado Springs Utilities also responded to the scene.

Montebello Dr. will be closed from Sonora Cir. to Cambria Dr. for most of Saturday for repair work.
