Sex offender sweep nets 10 arrests
The Pueblo Police Department says 10 people were arrested during a three day sex offender sweep.
The operation ran from April 29 through May 1 and involved Pueblo Police, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, Parole and members of the US Marshals Service.
Police say the purpose of the sweep was to confirm the compliance of registered sex offenders and to arrest fugitives whose underlying crimes were sexually based offenses.
Over 400 compliance checks and address verifications were conducted over the three days. 10 people were arrested. Four for sexually based offenses and six for other charges.
Pueblo Police say there are approximately 30 cases regarding sex offenders that are currently under investigation to verify that they remain in compliance with their registry conditions.
