Three people looking for a new home after Springs apartment fire

Firefighters in Colorado Springs said three people are looking for a new place to stay after an apartment fire near the Citadel Mall early Thursday (5/15/14) morning.

Crews said it happened at the Santa Fe Apartments in the 3600 block of Marion Drive just before 3:30 a.m. That is north of the Citadel Mall in eastern Colorado Springs.

Two men and a woman lost an apartment, firefighters said. The American Red Cross is helping. They were taken to the hospital as a precaution, firefighters said Firefighters said one cat died in the fire.

Crews were able to put out the fire in about 15 minutes.

Investigators are now at the complex trying to figure out how the fire started.
