Allegations of excessive force made against Woodland Park PD
Covered in bruises like black and blue polka dots, Cortney Rocchi believes a Woodland Park Police Officer went too far last Saturday.
“He said I was resisting arrest by asking him why he was arresting me and he just threw me to the ground,” Rocchi said.
Rocchi says she had been questioned for allegedly flipping someone off earlier that evening.
Neighbors at the Mountain View Apartments recorded the arrest on their cell phones.
“Shouldn’t have ever happened,” said Pete Ramirez who witnessed the arrest. “It was just a straight abuse of power.”
Woodland Park PD says an internal investigation has been launched into the accusations of excessive force, but they wouldn’t comment further while the investigation is ongoing.
Rocchi who says she not only suffered bruises as well as a dislocated wrist is also facing charges including harassment and resisting arrest.
“We have good cops, we have bad cops and this apparently is a bad cop and does not deserve to be on any force,” said Teresa Baker, Cortney’s mother.
Woodland Park PD says the officer remains on duty while the investigation continues.
