Report of smoke forces Palmer High School evacuation

Palmer High School in Colorado Springs was evacuated Wednesday while firefighters investigated a report of smoke.

The fire department tweeted that a fire extinguisher was discharged in the school and that the resulting haze was mistaken for smoke.

School district 11 confirms there was no fire at Palmer. Students were evacuated to Erps gym while police searched the school as a precaution. The district said students would be dismissed from the gym.

Weber Street and N. Wahsatch Ave. were temporarily blocked while police moved the students from the main school to the gym.
