Strong winds, blowing dust force road closures

The National Weather Service has issued warnings for high winds and blowing dust in eastern Colorado.

A high wind warning is in effect for most of eastern Colorado, with the exception of Pueblo County, Huerfano County, and western Las Animas County, until 7 p.m.

A dust storm warning has been issued for eastern Colorado generally along and east of highway 71. This warning does not include the I-25 corridor.

US 40 is closed between Limon and Kit Carson. I-70 and highway 71 were closed earlier because of poor visibility.

Drivers are urged to avoid traveling in eastern Colorado until the high winds and poor visibility subside.
