Man facing charges in Fort Carson assault

Trial is scheduled June 16 for a man accused of choking and threatening to kill his military wife at Fort Carson last month.

According to federal court documents, Mitchell Gibson is charged with assault resulting in serious bodily injury after military police responded a call for help on March 25 and found the injured woman. Gibson is a civilian.

Military police say they arrested Gibson after the unidentified woman told them she was pregnant and had been choked and kicked.

According to court documents, the woman told doctors she had previously been beaten with a cable by her husband and suffered second-degree burns from boiling water, but she did not report it.

Gibson’s public defender did not return a call Tuesday seeking comment.
