Denver airport to temporarily host fighter jets
Colorado Air National Guard F-16s will be taking off from and landing at Denver International Airport while their home runway undergoes reconstruction.
In a statement Thursday, Kim Day, manager of aviation at the Denver airport, says it is the second such temporary relocation of the 140th Wing to her facility, and she expects no effect on commercial flights. The F-16s will be parked in a restricted area guarded by military police.
The jets will fly training missions twice daily Tuesdays through Fridays and one weekend a month starting later this month from DIA. The runway reconstruction at Buckley is expected to take about three months.
