School evacuated, kids decontaminated in Lakewood playground incident
A school in Lakewood was evacuated Monday (4/7/14) after 28 students had a skin reaction to an unknown substance on the playground.
24 students had to be decontaminated in public and five were taken to Denver-area hospitals according to KMGH-TV.
It has not yet been determined what the kids were exposed to that caused the reaction.
KMGH reports that the K-12 school was evacuated just before 1 p.m. Most of the school’s 500 students and its staff were taken to a nearby church and parents were called to pick up their kids.
