Green Mountain Falls voters to decide on town’s next mayor

Voters in Green Mountain Falls will decide Tuesday night whether to keep the incumbent mayor or elect someone new.

The current Mayor, Lorrie Worthey, is fighting to keep the position she was elected to in 2012 just before the Waldo Canyon Fire.

The town of approximately 640 residents is located in Ute Pass between Colorado Springs and Woodland Park and was severely impacted by the fire and the flash flooding that has occurred as a result of it.

Worthey’s challenger is Jane Newberry. The Mountain Jackpot newspaper reports that Newberry has been on the board of trustees for about ten years.

Voters have until 7 p.m. to cast their ballot.
