Black Forest house fire extinguished

A house fire that was burning in the 11500 block of Milam Road in Black Forest Monday afternoon (3/31/14) is now out.

The fire was reported at 2:54 p.m. and the Black Forest Fire Department tweeted that it was out at 4:19 p.m.

Firefighters from multiple departments were dispatched and a large, black smoke plume was visible at the height of the fire.

The flames were contained to the home, which is a total loss.

KRDO NewsChannel 13’s Jonathan Patramala reports that there were two people inside when the fire started.

A Colorado Springs Police Officer reportedly helped the pair escape the home. They were not hurt.

It’s believed some embers that were disposed of in a metal container set next to some dry bushes outside of the house are responsible for the fire.

Firefighters have Milam Road blocked in front of the affected house.
