Devonshire residents upset they can’t return home

Residents of the Devonshire Square Apartments are frustrated about not being able to return to their homes.

They have been kept away since a fire broke out at the apartment complex Wednesday.

“I’m kind of frustrated, right now,” Mitchell Quintana said. “All my belongings are there, i can’t get into my house to do certain things, so my life is on hold right now.”

A recording on the apartment complex’s number gives residents and update. As of Friday, they still had no access to the building.

In a statement, management said:

“We are working diligently with the local fire department and state regulators to ensure all post-fire regulations are met prior to residents returning to the community. As always, our first priority is the care and well-being of our residents so the management team at Devonshire Square, in partnership with the local Red Cross, are working to provide the affected residents with housing options and resources. We’re grateful for the quick response by local emergency crews and for the outpouring of care and concern by the residents of Devonshire Square and the Colorado Springs community as a whole. We will not relent in our efforts until our residents are back home.”
